Saemgoeul Market in Jeongeup Offers 20% Discount on Korean Agricultural and Livestock Products Until June

Special Event for Price Stabilization and Revitalization of Traditional Markets

Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province will hold a special event at Saemgoeul Market from the 14th until June, where customers can purchase domestic agricultural and livestock products at discounts of up to 20%.

According to the city on the 10th, this event is a pilot project by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs aimed at easing the burden of grocery prices for consumers and encouraging the use of traditional markets. A total of 17 representative traditional markets nationwide are participating.

In North Jeolla Province, Saemgoeul Market is the only market selected for this event.

The event will run for two months from the 14th to June 13th, divided into four sessions, each lasting two weeks. Consumers who wish to participate can visit the voucher issuance center located at the customer lounge on the first floor of the Saemgoeul Market Merchants Association with their ID and mobile phone.

Here, they can receive a voucher with an additional 20% value added to their payment amount, and vouchers can be purchased in increments of 5,000 won. For example, if a customer pays 20,000 won, they will receive a voucher worth 24,000 won to use at participating stores during the event.

However, support is limited to a maximum of 4,000 won per person per session, and the eligible items are limited to fresh domestic agricultural and livestock products. Imported or secondary processed agricultural and livestock products (such as sesame oil, marinated meat, tofu, seaweed, roasted sesame seeds, etc.) are excluded from this event.

Mayor Lee Haksoo stated, "We ask for the active interest and participation of citizens in this event, which has been prepared to stabilize prices and revitalize traditional markets," adding, "We hope this will serve as an opportunity to invigorate the local economy."
