Executive Order Signed to Repeal Household Showerhead Water Pressure Limits
"It Takes 15 Minutes to Wet My Hair"
President Donald Trump has drawn attention by signing an executive order to repeal the 'water pressure limit' on household showerheads in the United States.
On the 9th (local time), local media including The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that President Trump signed an executive order titled "Make America's Showers Great Again." The main point of the executive order is to lift the regulations that have limited the water pressure of household showerheads.
At the signing ceremony, President Trump said, "Until now, to wash my hair, I had to stand under the showerhead because of the water pressure limit," adding, "(The showerhead) was just dripping water." He continued, "To thoroughly wet my hair, I had to stand under the shower for 15 minutes, which makes no sense. I wanted to shower properly for the sake of my beautiful hair," explaining the reason for signing the executive order.
He emphasized, "The federal government should not interfere with which showerheads Americans paying water bills choose to use."
The White House also elaborated in an official statement, saying, "Overregulation suffocates the U.S. economy, entrenches bureaucracy, and suppresses individual freedom."

The water pressure limit for household showerheads was introduced in 2013 during the Barack Obama administration. The purpose was to conserve the United States' water resources. This policy has been a major point of contention between the Democratic and Republican parties. During Trump's first administration, the water pressure limit regulations were relaxed, but they were restored to their original state during former President Biden's term.
President Trump has repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with the water pressure in American homes. In 2019, he claimed, "Due to insufficient water pressure, people are flushing toilets 10 to 15 times instead of once." Last June, at an event in Detroit, he also criticized, "When I shower, my beautiful hair should be full of foam, but when I turn on the water, it just drips. I can't wash my hair. It's really terrible."
Meanwhile, this executive order not only relaxes the water pressure limits on showerheads but also on other water-using appliances such as sinks and dishwashers.
