Yang Hyang-ja Leaves Reform New Party to Join People Power Party... Challenges for Presidency

Walking the Path of New Conservatism Powered by Science and Technology

Yang Hyang-ja, a former lawmaker and the inaugural floor leader of the Reform New Party, joined the People Power Party to run for the presidency.


On the 10th, former lawmaker Yang submitted her membership application after meeting with Kwon Young-se, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, at the National Assembly. She is expected to officially announce her presidential candidacy soon and enter the People Power Party primary.

Chairman Kwon welcomed her, saying, "We appreciate your bold decision for the future of the Republic of Korea," and added, "Former lawmaker Yang has built an outstanding career in the semiconductor industry and demonstrated exceptional expertise while actively working in the National Assembly."


He continued, "When we develop key industries and the country prospers, the lives of the people can truly become enriched," and said, "We look forward to former lawmaker Yang presenting a new vision for the nation."


Former lawmaker Yang said, "I will contribute to transforming the conservative party into a new conservative party focused on the economy, advanced industries, and the future," and added, "Let us all unite to walk the path of new conservatism powered by science and technology."


She further pledged, "Entrepreneurs and scientists are hoping for the success of the conservative party," and said, "I also want to become a small seed to realize those expectations."
