The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and KOTRA have designated Uzbekistan and other countries as 'K-Agri-Food Export Promising Countries' this year and are promoting support projects to expand export bases. From market research to brand promotion, buyer consultations, and sales promotion, they are actively supporting the entry of K-food into new markets through 'one-stop support.'
Celebrating its 24th edition this year, 'UzFood 2025' is Uzbekistan's largest food expo. Last year, 370 companies from 26 countries participated, attracting over 9,000 visitors. This year, more than 400 companies from 30 countries participated, making the event even more successful. This is the first time KOTRA has organized a Korean pavilion at the UzFood exhibition. Thirteen companies with popular products in the local market, such as red ginseng, ramen, beverages, and meal kits, conducted promotions and exhibition consultations. On-site, 163 consultations were held with 84 promising buyers, resulting in consultation achievements worth $4.78 million.
Exports of Korean food products to Uzbekistan have been steadily increasing. Last year's export value was $25.86 million, a 311% increase compared to about $6.29 million in 2021.
Kim Seong-su, head of KOTRA's CIS Regional Headquarters, said, "This exhibition is the first case of a new market development project jointly promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and KOTRA," adding, "We will continue to spare no support to accelerate the local advancement of K-food."
