Applied Starting from the 2026 Early Admission Process
Korea University of Technology and Education announced on the 10th that it will restructure its academic system, including the establishment of the Convergence Interdisciplinary Major and the School of Future Convergence.
The restructuring of the academic system to strengthen students' options in choosing their majors will be applied starting from the 2026 academic year early admission process.
Students in the Convergence Interdisciplinary Major can choose from ▲Engineering Convergence Interdisciplinary Major ▲ICT Convergence Interdisciplinary Major ▲Social Convergence Interdisciplinary Major, while there are no restrictions on choices in the School of Future Convergence.
The three departments that previously recruited students as a whole will now recruit students by specific majors. The School of Electrical, Electronic, and Communication Engineering has been subdivided into Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, and AI Information and Communication Engineering. The Department of Computer Engineering has been divided into Computer Engineering and AI/Software. The School of Industrial Management has been renamed the School of Business Administration and will recruit students for Convergence Management and Data Management majors.
With the restructuring, the curriculum for each major will be updated to reflect the latest industry demands and will be reorganized to focus on practical and field-oriented education. AI education for all students will be strengthened, and students will be encouraged to pursue double majors, minors, and interdisciplinary majors, along with obtaining relevant certifications.
A university official stated, "We plan to provide freshmen admitted to the interdisciplinary major with ample opportunities to explore various majors and assist them in making their choices through intensive counseling with dedicated professors."
