The documentary film 'Adult Kim Jang-ha' is set to be re-released this month, distributor Cinemadal announced on the 10th.
Recently, Acting Chief Justice Moon Hyung-bae of the Constitutional Court, who read the impeachment ruling of President Yoon Seok-yeol, drew renewed attention for a scene in 'Adult Kim Jang-ha' where he spoke as a Kim Jang-ha scholarship student. After passing the bar exam, when Moon visited Mr. Kim, Mr. Kim said, "I have only given you what exists in this society, so if you think you must repay it, repay it to this society," which became a hot topic online and brought the film back to audiences.
The film version of MBC Gyeongnam's 2022 documentary 'Adult Kim Jang-ha' tells the story of Mr. Kim Jang-ha, a herbal medicine doctor and philanthropist who worked in the herbal medicine industry in Jinju, Gyeongnam for 60 years, and journalist Kim Joo-wan, who devoted his life to local media. Viewers who watched it called it "a story of a true adult of our time."
'Adult Kim Jang-ha' is preparing a special screening at CGV, and plans to expand its screening to independent theaters afterward. It is unusual for a Korean independent film to be re-released after a year and six months.
