According to Korail, at around 4:30 a.m. that day, one of the rear wheels of a freight train car derailed while the train was carrying cargo from Jeonju Station. As a result of this accident, train operations on part of the Jeolla Line were immediately halted, and service resumed at around 7:01 a.m., approximately two hours and thirty minutes after the incident occurred.
Korail stated, "Due to this accident, the operation of two KTX trains passing through the affected section was disrupted, and passengers were transported by two buses." The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
