Jeong Chulwon, the governor of Damyang County, Jeonnam, attended the monthly meeting of the Residents' Autonomy Association held at the Songgangjeong Room in the county office on the 8th, where he had a time of communication with the presidents, secretaries, and responsible officials of the 12 towns and townships.
At the meeting, Governor Jeong stated, "The Residents' Autonomy Association is at the center of listening to residents' voices and reflecting them in policy, opening an era of grassroots democracy and residents' autonomy," and added, "We will spare no effort to support Damyang County in establishing itself as a leading region in realizing residents' autonomy."
During the meeting, participants shared various opinions for the development of the Residents' Autonomy Association, such as ways to hold a local development forum and contribute to the community by participating in the Bamboo Festival.
A county official said, "We will continue to make efforts so that the members of the Residents' Autonomy Association can passionately discuss and grow together for the development of Damyang."
Meanwhile, since its launch in January last year, the 4th Residents' Autonomy Association has been receiving positive responses from residents through projects that reflect the characteristics of each town and township, such as the Children's Happiness Keeper, Medicinal Cuisine Experience, attaching nameplates with stories from each village, Village Love Clean Day, and making rest chairs for seniors, as well as residents' autonomy programs and community service activities including calligraphy, line dance, yoga, and wood carving crafts.
