Support for Confirmatory Test Fees for 56-Year-Old Residents
Applications Available on Government24 Website
Sunchang-gun, North Jeolla Province, announced on the 9th that it will fully cover the out-of-pocket expenses for confirmatory tests for 56-year-old residents who receive a positive result in the hepatitis C antibody test, which has been newly included in the national health checkup program this year.
Sunchang County will fully cover the out-of-pocket expenses incurred during confirmatory testing for 56-year-old residents who have tested positive in hepatitis C screening. Provided by Sunchang County
The hepatitis C screening test conducted as part of the national health checkup is a test to determine the possibility of infection, and a positive result does not necessarily mean that the person has hepatitis C. Therefore, a confirmatory test such as the HCV RNA test is required to accurately determine infection status.
The support for confirmatory test fees is available to 56-year-old (born in 1969) residents who receive a positive result in the hepatitis C antibody test during the national health checkup and undergo the hepatitis C confirmatory test (HCV RNA test) at a hospital or clinic, excluding tertiary general hospitals.
Applications can be submitted online through the 'Subsidy 24' service on the Government24 website or in person at the Sunchang-gun Public Health Center. The application deadline is March 31 of the year following the checkup year.
An official from the Sunchang-gun Public Health Center stated, "Hepatitis C has no preventive vaccine and almost no early symptoms, making early detection difficult, but it is a disease that can be completely cured with medication. We hope that support for confirmatory test fees and free rapid diagnostic kit tests will promote early detection and treatment."
