On the 9th, Director Oh appeared at the plenary session of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee and responded to a question from Kim Yong-min, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, asking, "Why not arrest Acting President Han, who is advocating for rebellion?" by saying, "Since this is an ongoing investigation, it is difficult to provide detailed information, but the investigation is currently underway."
The Democratic Party had filed a complaint with the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Office against Acting President Han, accusing him of refusing to appoint three constitutional court justices?Ma Eun-hyuk, Jeong Gye-seon, and Jo Han-chang?who were elected by the National Assembly last December. Acting President Han appointed Justice Ma 104 days after being elected by the National Assembly, on the 8th, and nominated Director Lee as one of the two constitutional court justice candidates reserved for the president. Director Lee is a close aide of former President Yoon, who was dismissed by the Constitutional Court's decision on the 4th, and attended the so-called 'Samcheong-dong villa meeting' shortly after the emergency martial law on December 3rd. The Democratic Party filed a complaint against Director Lee for rebellion charges in January.
Regarding inquiries about Director Lee, Director Oh said, "There are complaints and petitions filed, so he is a subject of investigation," and added that former President Yoon is also "under investigation." Regarding the claim that the acting president should refrain from appointing constitutional institution officials, he said, "It is difficult to agree with this in the overall situation," and added, "Depending on the situation, if there is a necessity for the acting president, there are many things that can be done. Since this is a matter of many people's opinions, some may agree, but it is difficult to say that everyone agrees in the overall situation."
