Masan Happo-gu, Changwon Special City: "Trash Disappeared and Flowers Bloomed"

30 Sites Suffering from Illegal Waste Dumping
Transformed into Eco-Friendly Spaces

Masan Happo-gu, a district of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, announced on the 9th that it has selected 30 locations that suffered from illegal waste dumping from January to March this year and newly renovated them into eco-friendly spaces.

Masan Happo-gu, Changwon Special City: "Trash Disappeared and Flowers Bloomed" Park Dongjin, mayor of Masanhappo District Office, is inspecting areas of illegal garbage dumping.

The selected areas include alleys, vacant lots, and residential neighborhoods that were habitually plagued by illegal waste dumping. The district office cleaned up these sites and incorporated various eco-friendly elements such as environmental beautification and landscaping improvements to transform them into clean and pleasant spaces.

Since last week, the head of Masan Happo-gu Office has been personally visiting the sites to check the effects of the environmental improvements and to gather feedback from participating organizations and residents, continuing a field-oriented communication approach.

In addition, Masan Happo-gu will hold a photo exhibition titled "Before & After of Eradicating Illegal Waste Dumping: The Changes We Made" starting from the 18th, where photos comparing the sites before and after the renovations will be presented to the public.

This photo exhibition will be held in rotation at the lobby on the 2nd floor of Masan Happo-gu Office and at 15 local administrative welfare centers. It aims to raise awareness among citizens about the importance of environmental improvement and to heighten vigilance against illegal dumping.

Park Dongjin, head of the district office, stated, "This renovation project and photo exhibition are important opportunities not only for environmental beautification but also to encourage a shift in citizens' perceptions and voluntary participation," adding, "We will continue to pursue effective policies to eradicate illegal waste dumping in the future."
