Discussing Startup Investment Strategies and Cooperation Plans

Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province has launched efforts to strengthen its local startup ecosystem by revitalizing venture investment.

The meeting was attended by representatives from five investment firms?Enlight Ventures, KH Venture Partners, Y&Archer, Vine Ventures, and Daegu-Gyeongbuk Technology Holdings?as well as officials from the Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Institute and Gumi City, totaling around 10 participants.


The attendees shared investment strategies and step-by-step support plans for companies to establish a startup ecosystem in Gumi, and explored ways to build a sustainable cooperative system.


The Gumi City Venture Investment Council, launched in December 2023, provides comprehensive support for startups, including discovering promising companies, reviewing technology and business potential, and facilitating investment connections.


So far, consulting has been provided to a total of 14 companies. Among them, defense startup RFON (CEO Cho Kyungrae) developed RF-based electronic jamming technology and a drone jamming module, and in March secured an investment of 1 billion KRW from Enlight Ventures.


Mayor Kim Jangho stated, "We will work closely with investment firms to ensure that promising startups struggling to secure funding can grow stably," and added, "We will solidify the foundation of the startup ecosystem so that unicorn companies can be born in the region."
