Three Days of Intensive Support Including Rotary Tilling and Ridge Making
36 Agricultural Machines Deployed On-Site
The Agricultural Support Group, comprised of North Gyeongsang Province and 16 cities and counties within the province, has launched emergency support to help restore farming operations for agricultural households in Andong that suffered severe damage from a large wildfire.
The Agricultural Support Group, consisting of Gyeongbuk Province and 16 cities and counties within the province, has launched an emergency support effort to help farms in the Andong area recover from the damage caused by the large-scale wildfire.
The Gyeongsangbuk-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services and the Andong Agricultural Technology Center have been providing full-scale farming assistance?such as rotary tilling, ridge making, and plastic mulching?for three days starting from the 7th, targeting farms in the Imha-myeon and Namsun-myeon areas of Andong that were affected by the wildfire.
As a result of the wildfire, more than 2,200 pieces of agricultural machinery?including tractors, cultivators, and tillers?were destroyed in Andong alone, with the total damage in the province reaching 6,536 machines as of April 3. Farmers who lost their equipment found themselves unable to proceed with sowing and transplanting during this critical period.
In response, the province quickly organized an Agricultural Support Group consisting of 35 agricultural machinery experts and deployed 36 pieces of equipment?including tractors, cultivators, and mulchers?to the affected sites, helping farmers resume their work and breathe new life into their operations.
The Andong Agricultural Technology Center is also expediting the supply of fire blight control agents and seeds for sowing to farms that lost their supplies in the fire, aiming to support the rapid recovery of affected households.
At the launch ceremony of the Agricultural Support Group, Andong Mayor Kwon Ki-chang stated, "If the timing for farming operations is missed, the entire year's harvest is at risk. The city will provide all-out support to ensure that farmers, who have suffered deep wounds from the wildfire, can return to their daily lives as soon as possible."
