The 2nd Truth and Reconciliation Commission (Truth and Reconciliation Commission) decided to investigate the truth about the incident in which North Korean troops massacred wounded South Korean soldiers and civilians at Seoul National University Hospital during the Korean War.
On the 8th, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission held its 104th meeting and decided that this incident constitutes a "massacre by forces hostile to the Republic of Korea," and made a decision to investigate the truth.
The Seoul National University Hospital massacre occurred on June 28, 1950, shortly after the outbreak of the Korean War, when North Korean troops stormed Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and killed wounded South Korean soldiers and civilian patients who were hospitalized.
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission recommended that the government take follow-up measures such as urging an apology from the North Korean regime, promoting the excavation of remains at the presumed burial site of Seoul National University Hospital victims, and supporting victim recovery and memorial projects.
