Gangjin County in Jeollanam-do (Governor Kang Jinwon) has achieved the remarkable feat of being selected as an outstanding county in Jeollanam-do's recently announced '2025 Q1 Fiscal Execution Evaluation'.
According to the county on the 8th, this evaluation was conducted based on criteria such as prompt execution performance, consumption and investment sector execution rates, and achievement of goals. The county has been recognized for its proactive and strategic execution capabilities through consistent inspections and holding of reporting sessions.
Out of the 154.7 billion KRW target for prompt execution in the first quarter of 2025, 89.5 billion KRW was executed, achieving an execution rate of 57.85%, which is 13.9% higher than the previous year. In particular, in the consumption and investment sector, the county implemented an active execution strategy for local economic recovery, executing 73.4 billion KRW compared to the target of 58.5 billion KRW, thus exceeding the goal. This result was achieved thanks to the efforts of all employees to improve the budget execution rate.
Since the beginning of this year, Gangjin County has held regular reporting sessions presided over by Vice Governor Lee Byungcheol to closely monitor the budget execution situation. In January and February, the county held the '2025 Carried-Over Projects Prompt Execution Reporting Session' to analyze the causes of delays in projects carried over from the previous year and to devise practical solutions.
Furthermore, throughout March, weekly prompt execution reporting sessions for the first quarter of 2025 were held, focusing on checking statistical indicators and project-specific execution performance, and making a final all-out effort to achieve the first quarter goals. As a result of these efforts, the county was selected as an 'Outstanding City/County for Prompt Execution' in this evaluation and secured fiscal incentives.
In addition to prompt execution, Gangjin County is actively promoting various policies to revitalize the local economy. A representative example is the 'Gangjin Nuguna Half-Price Trip' policy. This policy refunds 50% of the amount spent on accommodation, food, and traditional markets with mobile Gangjin Love Gift Certificates, effectively encouraging repeat visits by tourists and boosting local consumption.
Additionally, the refunded gift certificates can be used at the local agricultural and specialty products online mall 'Chorokmideumgangjin', contributing to increased income for local farmers and fishers.
Moreover, the county is rapidly executing carried-over and investment projects in various areas such as supporting eco-friendly agriculture, creating stay-type tourist attractions, expanding welfare for vulnerable groups, and restoring disaster damage, focusing on establishing a foundation for balanced regional development and self-sustaining growth.
Governor Kang Jinwon stated, "We will not rest on our execution achievements, but will continue to operate our finances with a focus on policies that residents can truly feel, ensuring that the budget does not remain just a figure," adding, "We will continue to inspect and improve to realize citizen-centered administration."
Gangjin County was also selected as an outstanding city/county for prompt execution in the first half of 2024 and for fiscal execution in the second half, receiving an incentive of 80 million KRW, and was again selected as an outstanding city/county in this year's first quarter evaluation, receiving an incentive of 15 million KRW.
