Gwangju Transportation Corporation has launched a free stroller rental service at urban railway stations, drawing attention as it takes the lead in addressing the low birthrate issue and creating a child-friendly city.

According to the corporation on the 8th, six strollers have been placed at five stations with high usage rates among customers accompanied by infants and toddlers (Namgwangju Station, Munhwajeondang Station, Geumnamno 4-ga Station, Nongseong Station, Uncheon Station) to realize the vision of "Gwangju, a city where it is good to have and raise children."

The stroller rental service is available to any customer accompanied by a child aged five or under. Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays (Monday to Thursday), and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends and holidays (Friday to Sunday). Customers wishing to rent a stroller can visit the customer information center, present their ID, and use the stroller for up to five hours before returning it to the station where it was rented.

After a pilot operation, the corporation plans to analyze rental performance and consider expanding the service to more stations or adding additional strollers.

President Cho Ikmoon said, "We are doing our best to make the urban railway not just a means of transportation but a space that provides customers with inspiration and enjoyment," adding, "As a local public enterprise, we will continue to actively fulfill our social responsibilities."
