Support for College Interviews That Students Can Relate To
So That No One Gives Up Their Dreams Because of Math
The Gwangju Office of Education announced on the 8th that it will produce and distribute a special resource book to reduce the number of students who give up on applying to their desired universities due to the burden of math interviews.
This resource book was developed as part of the "No Math Dropouts Project," which is a key initiative of the Gwangju Office of Education this year. In particular, math teachers who formerly served as heads of college admissions and have long experience teaching senior students directly created the interview questions and detailed explanations, enhancing the practical usefulness for students.

The resource book consists of three parts, spanning over 300 pages, and covers various cases that link the high school math curriculum (Common Math 1, Common Math 2, Math I, Math II, Probability and Statistics) with real-life applications.
Part 1 presents passage-based problems connected to various fields such as economics, society, science, technology, and the arts, designed to capture students' interest. It also includes problems of varying difficulty levels and those that require creative thinking, taking into account the learners' abilities.
Part 2 focuses on core concepts by unit for Common Math 1 and 2, real-life application cases, and passage-based, level-appropriate problems. Part 3 provides detailed explanations to help students develop problem-solving skills and understand mathematical concepts and principles.
The Gwangju Office of Education expects this resource book to enhance students' integrated thinking skills, support school math classes, and help students prepare for college entrance interviews, among other benefits.
Superintendent Lee Jungseon stated, "We have developed college interview questions and explanatory notes based on real-life applications of math, so that students can enjoyably prepare for math interviews," and added, "We will actively support students with various measures so that no one gives up on their dreams because of math."
