The Party for National Innovation Chooses Lee Wankyu and Ham Sanghoon, Demands "Impeachment of Han Deoksu"

Kim Sunmin: "Han Deok-su's Reckless Actions Must Be Stopped"

The Joguk Innovation Party stated on the 8th regarding Han Deok-su, Acting President's nomination of a constitutional court justice for the president's quota, "We urge the immediate convening of a plenary session to impeach Han Deok-su."

Kim Seon-min, Acting Representative of the Joguk Innovation Party, said at a National Assembly press conference that day, "The National Assembly must mobilize all legal powers to stop Han Deok-su's reckless behavior." Earlier, Acting President Han nominated Lee Wan-gyu, Director of the Ministry of Legislation, and Ham Sang-hoon, Chief Judge of the Seoul High Court, as successors to Justices Moon Hyung-bae and Lee Mi-seon, who were appointed for the president's quota.

Acting Representative Kim criticized, "Han Deok-su was supposed to act on presidential authority, but he is only acting in treasonous conduct," adding, "At this rate, he might even declare martial law under the guise of acting president."

He continued, "In particular, Director Lee Wan-gyu is suspected of being an accomplice in treason. Who recommended him as a constitutional court justice?" He pointed out, "He is a friend and bodyguard who was a classmate of Yoon Seok-yeol at Seoul National University Law School and the Judicial Research and Training Institute. He was a lawyer during Yoon Seok-yeol's suspension as Prosecutor General in 2020 and handled negative responses in Yoon's presidential campaign. Perhaps as a favor, Yoon appointed him as Director of the Ministry of Legislation."

He added, "Director Lee Wan-gyu behaved as if endorsing treason. On the day Yoon Seok-yeol declared martial law, Director Lee said, 'I thought it would be lifted, so I slept at the official residence,'" raising his voice, "The perception and behavior of the head of the government's legal interpretation department were like this."

Acting Representative Kim said, "On December 4 last year, the day martial law was lifted, Director Lee met with Yoon Seok-yeol's law bandits (法匪, groups abusing the law for private gain) such as Park Seong-jae, Lee Sang-min, and Kim Joo-hyun at a private residence in Samcheong-dong to discuss countermeasures," and criticized, "Director Lee is completely unfit to be a constitutional court justice, having attempted to destroy evidence by changing his phone after martial law."

Furthermore, he said, "On December 31 last year, at the Cabinet meeting, Director Lee harshly criticized Acting Prime Minister Choi Sang-mok, who was trying to appoint constitutional court justices. He said, 'It is customary to appoint constitutional court justices by bipartisan agreement,'" and raised his voice, "If what Director Lee says is true, he should refuse the nomination as a justice."

Acting Representative Kim appealed, "Han Deok-su continues treason and refuses impeachment. The National Assembly must mobilize all legal powers to stop Han Deok-su's reckless behavior," urging, "We call for the immediate convening of a plenary session to impeach Han Deok-su."

He also said, "The Constitutional Court Act amendment bill is in the National Assembly's Judiciary Committee. The plenary session of the National Assembly should be held to pass it," and claimed, "The party will take all possible legal measures, including filing a dispute over authority, requesting provisional suspension of effect, and accusing abuse of power."
