Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Jeon Jin-seon) announced on the 8th that it will participate in the ‘2025 Korea Healthy Cities Partnership (KHCP) Policy Leadership Academy International Conference’ held in Switzerland and France from the 3rd to the 11th.

Through this visit, they plan to benchmark sustainable healthy city policies and learn advanced environmental and health policies to further develop Yangpyeong-gun’s health policies.


The academy is hosted by the Korea Healthy Cities Partnership, with 38 participants including local government heads and academic committee members from 15 full member cities such as Dong-gu, Gwangju (chair city) and Yangpyeong-gun. Participants will directly explore excellent cases in health, environment, and urban regeneration in the training countries Switzerland and France, and strengthen international cooperation through policy discussions, presentations, and network building.


The Yangpyeong-gun Healthy City delegation inspected the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Entlebuch Nature Park, an eco-friendly regional cultural education facility, to seek nature-friendly urban management methods. They also explored the Zermatt area with views of the Matterhorn to study ways to harmonize nature conservation and tourism, actively reflecting applicable parts in Yangpyeong-gun’s urban environment policies.


On the 8th, they will visit the World Health Organization (WHO) in Lyon, France, to tour health education facilities and simulation rooms. The education will be conducted under the guidance of David Atchoarena, Executive Director of the WHO Academy, and Celine de Laurens, Deputy Mayor of Lyon, will present cases of lifelong learning and Lyon’s approach for regional health. On the 9th, they will attend a healthy city workshop at the WHO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss creating healthy food environments in cities, age-friendly cities, and cooperation plans for the Global Network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities (GNAFCC).


Jeon Jin-seon, Governor of Yangpyeong-gun, said, “Through this Policy Leadership Academy, we will learn advanced healthy city policies and create an opportunity to further develop Yangpyeong-gun’s health and environmental policies. We will strengthen cooperation with member cities of the Korea Healthy Cities Partnership and promote various policies for creating sustainable healthy cities.”


Meanwhile, Governor Jeon will conclude the official schedule with a visit to the United Nations (UN) Geneva Office in Switzerland and return home on the 11th.
