The Seoul Yongsan Regional Self-Sufficiency Center and Daehanminguk Clinic (Director Bae Jae-won) signed a business agreement on the 5th to improve the health welfare of participants in the self-sufficiency labor project. According to this agreement, Daehanminguk Clinic will provide comprehensive health checkups including national health screenings, five major cancer screenings, upper and lower gastrointestinal sedation endoscopy, abdominal ultrasound, tumor markers, and 70 types of comprehensive blood tests.
Among about 200 participants in the self-sufficiency labor project, 31 participants who have participated in the project for more than three months and require health management were selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Those who participated in last year's health checkup support project or overlapped with the center's medical welfare support project were excluded. Participants will complete their initial examination at the partner hospital and then receive the health checkup.
Last year, up to 300,000 KRW per person was supported for 20 participants who had participated in the self-sufficiency labor project for more than six months. This year, support has been expanded to 31 participants who have participated for more than three months, with up to 400,000 KRW per person. The health checkup costs are funded by the 'Yongsan-gu Self-Sufficiency Fund,' which was established to support low-income self-sufficiency and welfare enhancement.
District Mayor Park Hee-young said, "I hope participants in the self-sufficiency labor project can prevent diseases through health checkups and engage in stable self-sufficiency labor with a healthy body," adding, "We will continue to provide various medical welfare supports so that they can participate in self-sufficiency labor in good health."
The Yongsan Regional Self-Sufficiency Center is a key institution supporting the independence of vulnerable groups in the local community, providing services such as operation of self-sufficiency labor projects, vocational education, training, startup support, and case management. Currently, it operates 17 self-sufficiency labor project teams and plays an important role in creating jobs and supporting economic independence in the region.
