Encouraging Voluntary Safety and Health Activities
Busan City is seeking 'Safety and Health Guardians' to help prevent industrial accidents.
Busan City (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) announced on the 8th that it will be publicly recruiting 10 members for the 'Busan Metropolitan City Labor Safety and Health Guardians' until the 21st to prevent industrial accidents at local workplaces.
The Labor Safety and Health Guardians group, which has been operating since 2021, visits industrial sites to monitor workers' working environments, improve and guide the mitigation of industrial accident risk factors, and encourage voluntary safety and health activities.
The main inspection targets are city and district/county-commissioned construction projects and business sites with budgets between 100 million and 12 billion KRW, as well as private workplaces recommended by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency.
They check compliance with the three core safety measures (fall prevention, entrapment prevention, and use of protective equipment), adherence to safety rules, whether technical guidance has been provided by specialized accident prevention agencies, the status of on-site supervision, and inspect and improve other harmful or hazardous factors.
Applicants can submit their application documents in person or by mail to the city's Job and Labor Division, or by email, by the 21st.
Eligibility requirements include: ▲ Those who have worked as industrial safety and health officers for more than three years in companies or organizations related to industrial safety and health ▲ Those who have engaged in labor safety and health activities for more than three years in labor-related civic organizations ▲ Holders of industrial safety and health-related certifications ▲ Honorary industrial safety inspectors appointed by the Minister of Employment and Labor, and applicants must be residents of Busan as of the announcement date.

Kim Bongcheol, Director of Busan City's Digital Economy Office, said, "We expect the Labor Safety and Health Guardians group to contribute to preventing industrial accidents by improving the working environment of small-scale workplaces in safety blind spots. We hope that many capable experts in the field of industrial safety and health will participate and join us in creating a safer workplace in Busan."
