The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) will initiate institutional improvements to prevent wildfires.
On the 8th, the ACRC announced that it will work on institutional improvements to prevent wildfires to ensure that national disasters like the large wildfires in the Ulsan and Gyeongsan regions do not recur.
The ACRC plans to review the existing comprehensive wildfire prevention measures and identify areas for improvement through field surveys and public opinion collection. This initiative stems from the fact that the recent wildfire incapacitated the forest authorities' wildfire response system and spread rapidly, causing damage.
The ACRC will analyze frequently reported complaints related to wildfires by utilizing complaint analysis systems such as the National Petition System. Additionally, for two weeks until the 21st, it will conduct a survey on the effectiveness and improvement points of wildfire prevention measures through the online public communication platform 'Gukmin Saenggakham' (National Idea Box).
Furthermore, the commission will examine overall forestry projects, including the status of forest roads, check dams, and reservoirs constructed by local governments, as well as assess the expertise of wildfire suppression personnel and the status of their equipment.
