Professor An Byungjin: "Losing the Midterm Elections Could Be a Nightmare for Trump"
Signs of Trump's Political Coalition Breaking Apart
Claims have emerged that cracks are appearing within the White House and the U.S. Republican Party over the reciprocal tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. An Byeong-jin, a political expert and professor at Kyung Hee University's Future Civilization Institute, predicted that the longer the tariff negotiations drag on, the more unfavorable the situation could become for President Trump.
On the 8th, Professor An stated on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' "Power struggles are ongoing even within the White House, and movements to change President Trump's direction have likely just begun."
He identified Scott Viscount, the Treasury Secretary, and Peter Navarro, the White House Chief Advisor, as key figures leading the Trump administration's overall economic policy. Professor An described Secretary Viscount as "a respected figure on Wall Street," while he characterized Advisor Navarro as "an extreme ideologue whose goal is to change the Chinese system." He added, "Currently, a confident President Trump is empowering Navarro."
Professor An particularly foresaw cracks beginning in Congress. He said, "The solid political coalition of the Republican Party is breaking apart. The theories of Chief Navarro and others are incomprehensible to core theorists of the U.S. stock market and financial capitalism, Republican supporters, or people like Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla." He emphasized, "The stock market is very important to ordinary American voters who have retirement pensions. The current stock market reaction signals that President Trump's political coalition is breaking."
He continued, "When the political coalition breaks, the next step is losing the midterm elections." He explained, "Unlike South Korea, the U.S. Congress holds budgetary authority. President Trump will have to continually and earnestly appeal to Congress when requesting expenses such as travel costs. In other words, from President Trump's perspective, a nightmare could begin after the midterm elections."
Professor An diagnosed, "In the American conservative political coalition, the judiciary, globalists like CEO Musk, and other Republican factions favorable to free trade are turning their backs on President Trump. The more time drags on, the more President Trump's power will weaken."
