Collaboration Exhibition with Global Artists
Promoting the Design Philosophy 'Opposites United'
Kia announced that it will participate for the third consecutive year in the design and furniture fair '2025 Milano Design Week,' held for a week starting on the 7th (local time), hosting a solo exhibition.
This is to promote Kia's design philosophy, 'Opposites United'?the creative fusion of contrasting concepts?through collaboration with global artists and to create a platform for cultural exchange.
Marking its 63rd anniversary this year, Milano Design Week is the world's premier design exhibition where the latest cultural trends in architecture, fashion, automobiles, IT, and more can be explored.
Kia has set up an exhibition space at the art gallery 'Museo della Permanente,' located in the heart of Milan, showcasing various works that reinterpret Opposites United in collaboration with global artists.
Kia presents a work titled 'Marquee' in collaboration with world-renowned contemporary artist Philippe Parreno.
Marquee is a sculptural piece shaped like an old theater sign installed in the air, demonstrating the interaction of light and space. It is characterized by expanding boundaries beyond a single art domain such as architecture, design, or performance. This represents the dynamism of the Kia brand and supports Kia’s design philosophy as a 'cultural pioneer.'
Kia also collaborates with the London- and Tokyo-based artist duo A.A. Murakami to unveil two works: The Cave and Beyond the Horizon.
The Cave is an installation art piece where sound resonates inside a cave through an automatic device shaped like a puddle and sounds inspired by ancient instruments. The company explained that this attempt to combine technology and music reflects the 'relentless innovator' characteristic that Kia design aims for.
Beyond the Horizon is a work where bubbles emerge from an automatic device hanging from the ceiling and transform into a massive cloud. By using unpredictably formed bubbles as a material for art, it embodies Kia’s spirit of a 'creative adventurer.'
A Kia representative said, "This exhibition will serve as a platform where Kia’s design philosophy meets various art fields to create new culture. We hope that customers and artists visiting the exhibition will gain inspiration and spend time discovering creativity through their experience."
