"Responding to European Defense Bloc Formation, Local Cooperation"

Hanwha Aerospace announced on the 8th that it has signed a component supply contract worth 402.6 billion KRW with Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW), a Polish state-owned defense company, for the Polish self-propelled howitzer KRAB chassis. The company plans to strengthen cooperation with local defense firms to respond to the European defense bloc formation and build bilateral relations as strategic partners.

Hanwha Aerospace first signed a contract with Poland in 2014 by supplying chassis components for 120 KRAB units. Subsequently, in 2022 and 2023, it supplied a total of 364 K9 self-propelled howitzers. An additional contract for the remaining 300 K9 units is also being pursued under the basic contract signed in 2022.

Hanwha Aerospace continues to expand its cooperation even after exporting components for the existing K9 self-propelled howitzer, the Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher, and the KRAB chassis. In addition to maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of the existing supplied products, the company plans to participate in Poland’s “medium and heavy armored infantry fighting vehicle” project by offering the locally customized version of its independently developed infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), Redback.
