Jeon Hangil: "'Yoon Again' Support... Will Win the Presidential Election and Crush the Constitutional Court"

"I Accept the Constitutional Court's Decision, but Absolutely Cannot Accept Its Content"
"An Unconstitutional and Anti-Democratic Ruling... I Cannot Help but Call Them the 'Eulsa Eight Traitors'"

After the December 3 emergency martial law incident, Jeon Han-gil (55), a Korean history instructor who has publicly supported former President Yoon Seok-yeol, stated, "Behind the Constitutional Court's acceptance of the presidential impeachment and dismissal lies the reality of the constitutional justices' tendencies and political rulings," and expressed his intention to "resist until the end." He referred to the justices as the "Eulsa Eight Traitors" and argued that they must be reformed by winning the upcoming presidential election.

Jeon Hangil: "'Yoon Again' Support... Will Win the Presidential Election and Crush the Constitutional Court" On the 4th, when the Constitutional Court unanimously ruled to impeach President Yoon Seok-yeol, Jeon Han-gil, a famous Korean history instructor who had opposed the impeachment, expressed his position. On the 7th, Jeon opened up on his Instagram, saying, "I spent a busy weekend after the Constitutional Court's ruling on the 4th," and added, "Through 'Jeon Han-gil News,' I actively fulfilled my role as a journalist by informing the public opinion before and after the court's ruling." Jeon had established the one-person media outlet 'Jeon Han-gil News' during the impeachment crisis.

Jeon stated, "Behind the Constitutional Court's acceptance of the presidential impeachment and dismissal is not a decision based on the rule of law but a revelation of the justices' tendencies and political rulings," and questioned, "How can appointed public officials politically dismiss a president directly elected by the people when the president's approval rating is over 50%?"

He continued, "Seeing the unconstitutional and anti-democratic decision that denies the statement in Article 1 of the Constitution of the Republic of Korea, 'Sovereignty resides in the people, and all state authority emanates from the people,' I cannot help but call the justices the 'Eulsa Eight Traitors' based on the spirit of the Constitution." He also said, "While I accept the result, I absolutely cannot accept the content and declare that I will resist to the end within the constitutional framework."

Jeon declared, "The values we have pursued?'protection of liberal democracy,' 'rule of law, fairness, and common sense'?align with universal values, so I believe we will ultimately win," and declared his support for "'Yoon Again'." He emphasized, "We must win the upcoming presidential election and reform the Constitutional Court through constitutional amendments to prove that we were right."

Finally, he said, "During the Japanese colonial period, people endured torture and fought for independence, and now that liberal democracy in the Republic of Korea is on the verge of collapse, how can we do nothing?" He pledged, "As I promised in various rallies and broadcasts before, I will throw my body into this. Especially, I will keep my promise to go to the end with the 2030 youth generation."

Jeon has continued his political statements through the recently launched one-person media 'Jeon Han-gil News.' While watching the Constitutional Court ruling on former President Yoon live and feeling frustrated, he said, "Please donate to help win the early presidential election," and "I will prepare for the next presidential election."

In response to criticism, Jeon emphasized, "I have earned over 18 billion won in income over three years, and the taxes I pay annually amount to 2.7 billion won. In December 2024, I have already signed a long-term contract with an annual salary of 6 billion won, ensuring stable income for the coming years." He rebutted, "Isn't it unreasonable to interpret the reason I entered politics, giving up all the income sources I have enjoyed so far, as 'money'?"

Jeon is known as a top Korean history instructor. However, after the emergency martial law, as the impeachment crisis unfolded, he suddenly expressed opinions supporting martial law and opposing impeachment, and by sympathizing with election fraud allegations, he has sparked debates even among examinees.
