Domestic AI specialist company PIOUL (CEO Lee Jung-eum) announced that on March 25, it visited the Embassy of China in Korea and discussed AI technology cooperation measures between Korea and China with Wang Zilin, Economic Counselor.
This meeting was a good opportunity for the Korea-China AI sector, where practical technology cooperation discussions had been lacking.
Previously, in May 2024, during the Korea-China-Japan Summit, at the 'Korea-China Business Exchange Meeting,' Lun Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, emphasized the need for Korea-China cooperation in global supply chains and AI fields. This discussion marks the first substantial cooperation talks about a year after that statement. The meeting was arranged by the Korea-China Global Cooperation Center, which hosted the May 2024 'Korea-China Business Exchange Meeting.'
Economic Counselor Wang Zilin stated, "Until now, due to technical security and many other reasons, practical exchanges in the AI technology field have not been realized," adding, "We hope that promising Korean AI companies will collaborate with world-class advanced AI technology companies in China such as Alibaba, Baidu, and DeepSeek to enhance competitiveness in the global market."
PIOUL CEO Lee Jung-eum said, "AI is a technology that transcends borders and is the core of future industries. We hope that this discussion will serve as a foundation for expanding practical technology cooperation between the two countries and achieving mutually complementary growth."
The Korea-China Global Cooperation Center is currently promoting Korea-China cooperation in the battery materials sector with Baowu, a Chinese steel company. It plans to actively pursue cooperation with Chinese AI and robotics companies and, for this purpose, will visit Hangzhou and Shenzhen with Korean AI companies such as PIOUL to promote exchanges with major AI companies like Alibaba and DeepSeek.
