Ryu Jehwa: "People Power Party Members Unlikely to Show Interest in New Party"
Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, claimed that there is a movement to form a new party around former President Yoon Seok-yeol, while Ryu Je-hwa, the People Power Party’s Sejong City Gap district committee chairman, criticized this by saying, "Even if a new party is formed, its influence will be at the level of the Liberty Unification Party." The Liberty Unification Party is an extreme right-wing party centered around Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon of Sarang Jeil Church.

On the 7th, Chairman Ryu appeared on CBS Radio’s Park Jae-hong’s Hanpanseungbu program and said, "I think party members and citizens who support the People Power Party will not pay attention to the new party," adding, "There is no need to form a new party because the Liberty Unification Party already exists and can be utilized."
Earlier, Representative Yoon stated that former President Yoon Seok-yeol, who was removed from office by the Constitutional Court’s decision, is not accepting proposals to form a new party from those around him. Representative Yoon said that day, "In fact, there are many people around the president trying to form a new party. However, the president rejects such suggestions."

Regarding the remarks about the new party, Chairman Ryu said, "It seems that Representative Yoon Sang-hyun is trying to continue the enthusiasm and afterglow of the square during the impeachment trial process," adding, "But that afterglow will soon disappear."
He continued, "Even on the day of the trial, as if it were a mirage, there were not many people in the square," and said, "The Constitutional Court made a firm 8-0 (impeachment acceptance) decision, and Justice Jung Hyung-sik, the only constitutional judge appointed by former President Yoon, drafted the decision with firmness and determination, which I think caused the loss of will."
Regarding calls within the party to sever ties with former President Yoon, he emphasized, "Former President Yoon himself must decide his future." He said, "Former President Yoon is the No. 1 member of the People Power Party. Isn’t he the person who was removed from office due to a serious constitutional violation? But as long as he does not settle his position, it will be very difficult for us to conduct the presidential election, and I believe he will consider that as well."
