Geochang County Submits First Supplementary Budget Proposal of 812.8 Billion Won to County Council

Minimizing Inconvenience for Residents,
Focusing on Creating Growth Environments
for Key Projects

Geochang County, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 8th that it has submitted the first supplementary budget bill to the Geochang County Council, increasing the original budget by 11.3 billion KRW to a total of 812.8 billion KRW.


This supplementary budget allocates 751.3 billion KRW to the general account, an increase of 8.2 billion KRW, and 61.5 billion KRW to the special account, an increase of 3.1 billion KRW. In response to the government's austerity policy and to ensure efficient fiscal management, the county has restructured expenditure budgets to reduce costs, focusing on minimizing inconvenience for residents and establishing growth environments for key projects.

Main projects include support for the National Singing Contest event, construction of a public postpartum care center and Happiness Cancer Center, waterproofing work at Geochang Cultural Center, remodeling of the Literature Museum, hosting the KBS Open Concert, meditation and vegan festivals, the Geochang-e On Spring Festival, creation of a climate-responsive urban forest, safety measures for the Hanwoo industry, support for school milk programs, crop disaster insurance subsidies, and the establishment of a special account for golf course projects.


Among these, the 'Geochang-e On Spring Festival', which will be held from May 15 to 18 at Geochang Changpowon and will combine seven events including the Arimia Flower Festival, Geochanghan Sanyangsam Festival, Social Economy Enterprise Expo, Drone Soccer Tournament, Barefoot Walking Event, Meditation and Vegan Festival, and KBS Open Concert, is expected to become an even more vibrant and abundant integrated festival if the supplementary budget is confirmed.


In particular, the KBS Open Concert, which will be held on the first day, May 15, is the first of its kind in the county and is expected to attract over 7,000 spectators. As it will be broadcast nationwide on public television, it is anticipated to be a great opportunity to showcase the true charm of Geochang.


County Governor Koo Inmo said, “With this supplementary budget, we have strived to fulfill the social and fiscal roles of the budget, and although resources are limited, we have made efforts to ensure that funds are distributed evenly to support both local economic revitalization and balanced regional growth.”


Meanwhile, the first supplementary budget bill for 2025 will be reviewed, resolved, and finalized at the 286th extraordinary session, which will be held from the 10th to the 17th.
