Notably, 21 members reside in 15 countries including the United States, France, Germany, and T?rkiye, reflecting a high proportion of overseas residents. They also have diverse foreign language abilities such as Persian, Hungarian, and Estonian, and are expected to carry out broad activities to promote accurate information about Korea across various regions.
The inauguration ceremony will be live-streamed online to allow participation from members residing abroad. The ceremony will include a lecture by Fabian, a broadcaster from France, on "The Importance of Activities to Promote Accurate Information about Korea," introductions of the members, presentations of their aspirations, and a session sharing the experiences of returning members.
The 18th group will report errors related to Korea through the "Korea Correct Information Service," a portal operated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for reporting Korea-related errors, until July this year. They will also receive specialized education on Korean culture such as Hanbok and Korean cuisine and engage in promotional activities about Korea.
Chae Su-hee, Director of Overseas Public Relations Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, "Amid the global Korean Wave, content related to Korea is increasing, but the possibility of spreading incorrect information and misunderstandings about Korea is also rising. We will do our best together with the Correct Information Group to accurately convey Korea’s history, charm, and values."
