To Compete in the DB Insurance Promy Open Opening on the 17th

The Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Tour announced on the 7th that Kang Sung-hoon will compete in the KPGA Tour starting this season. Kang will use the KPGA Tour's 'Overseas Tour Card Holder Returnee' category seed to participate in the first tournament of the 2025 season, the DB Insurance Promy Open, which opens on the 17th. The 'Overseas Tour Card Holder Returnee' category seed is a system that grants players who have competed on overseas tours for a certain period the right to play on the KPGA Tour for one year.

Kang Sung-hoon entered the KPGA Tour in 2006 as an amateur by winning the Lotte Skyhill Open and went on to win three more times. In 2011, he moved to the U.S. PGA Tour and won the 2019 AT&T Byron Nelson. After experiencing a slump and losing his PGA Tour card, he has been attempting a comeback on various tours worldwide, including the DP World Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour.

Returning to Korea after six years, Kang said, "It feels unfamiliar but exciting. I want to participate in as many tournaments as possible in the first half of the year." He added, "There are many courses I have never experienced before. Although there is a difference in my skills compared to before, I think it will be enjoyable to compete with younger players and those I used to be close with." He continued, "Rather than obsessing over results, I want to focus on consistently playing to a level I am satisfied with. If I maintain consistent performance, the results will naturally follow."
