Daegu Police Agency, iM Financial Group, and Local Children's Centers Sign MOU to Promote Children's Traffic Safety Culture

Production and Distribution of 3,000 Safety Umbrellas through Public-Private Cooperation
Full-Scale Initiative to Prevent Traffic Accidents Involving Children

The Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency has joined hands with iM Financial Group and the Daegu Regional Support Group for Community Child Centers to promote public-private cooperation for the prevention of traffic accidents involving children.

On the afternoon of the 7th, the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with iM Financial Group (Chairman Hwang Byungwoo) and the Daegu Regional Support Group for Community Child Centers (Director Lee Sangyeol) in the conference room on the 7th floor of its headquarters, agreeing to work together to promote a culture of traffic safety for children.


Through this agreement, the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency will support traffic safety education for children, while iM Financial Group and the DGB Social Contribution Foundation will produce 3,000 safety umbrellas to be distributed to child centers in the Daegu area. The Daegu Regional Support Group for Community Child Centers plans to directly distribute the safety umbrellas to children on site and enhance safety awareness by linking the distribution with educational programs.


According to the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency, there have been approximately 2,600 traffic accidents involving children in the Daegu area over the past five years, with more than 500 cases occurring annually on a consistent basis.


Lee Seunghyeop, Chief of the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency, stated, "Traffic accidents involving children are an indicator of a society's safety net and level of traffic culture, and they have a significant social impact," adding, "Through this agreement, we will foster a culture of traffic safety by promoting cooperation between the public and private sectors, so that children, the next generation, can grow up in a safer traffic environment."


The Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency plans to continue expanding its cooperation with various private organizations to sustain efforts to prevent traffic accidents involving children.
