'Yangsim Flowerpots' Installed at 34 Habitual Illegal Dumping Sites in Dongtan New Town

Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 7th that it has installed 'Yangsim Flowerpots' at 34 locations in the Dongtan New Town area, which are habitual illegal dumping sites.

'Yangsim Flowerpots' are installed and managed by cleaning contractors, with 1 to 2 flowerpots placed at each site to encourage citizens to participate in eradicating illegal dumping. This project was promoted as part of the cleaning contractors' social contribution to creating a clean street environment.

The activities involved Hwaseong City Dongtan Branch Office, as well as cleaning contractors for household waste in the Dongtan area, including Hwaseong Co., Clean City Hwaseong Co., Nanum Environment Co., and Hyangwon Industrial Co.

The city plans to install mobile CCTVs at habitual illegal dumping sites and deploy patrol officers for continuous monitoring and enforcement.

Lee Gang-seok, head of the Environmental Sanitation Division at Hwaseong City Dongtan Branch Office, said, "Along with the Yangsim Flowerpots, we will continuously guide citizens on proper waste disposal methods to create a clean urban environment."
