Promoting the 'Welfare Care Postal Service'
Addressing Welfare Blind Spots
Iksan City in North Jeolla Province has joined hands with Iksan Post Office and the Iksan Community Social Security Council to realize warm and inclusive welfare.
On the 7th, the city announced that it had signed a business agreement for the implementation of the 'Welfare Care Postal Service' with Iksan Post Office and the Iksan Community Social Security Council in the small conference room at City Hall.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Jung Heon-yul of Iksan, Kim Jong-chul, head of Iksan Post Office, and Sung Si-jong, private chairperson of the Iksan Community Social Security Council, who reaffirmed their commitment to mutual cooperation to strengthen the community safety net.
The 'Welfare Care Postal Service,' which is part of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'Support Project for Improving Smart Welfare and Safety Service Models in Towns and Villages,' aims to establish a welfare safety net and prevent the social isolation of vulnerable groups.
Through this agreement, Iksan City will appoint postal workers as 'Our Village Happiness Keepers' (Honorary Social Welfare Officials). Postal workers from Iksan Post Office will visit designated households twice a month to deliver daily necessities such as toilet paper and check on their well-being.
The city expects that the Welfare Care Postal Service project will go beyond the simple delivery of goods and play a pivotal role in identifying beneficiaries and detecting signs of crisis, thereby addressing welfare blind spots.
Mayor Jung Heon-yul stated, "The administration, post office, and local community will work together to ensure that warm care naturally permeates daily life, and we will do our best to promote this service," adding, "We will continue to expand welfare services that reach even closer to our citizens."
