Projects to Eradicate Discriminatory Practices
and Improve Awareness of Power Abuse
Hongseong County Holds Progress Report Meeting on Women-Friendly City Development Project on the 7th
On the morning of the 7th at 10 a.m., Hongseong County, Chungnam Province announced that it held a 'Report Meeting on the Promotion of Women-Friendly City Projects' in the county office meeting room, attended by County Governor Lee Yongrok and all heads of departments and affiliated offices.
During the meeting, 102 projects to be promoted by each department were reported, covering the five areas set as the county's goals: gender-equal Hongseong, a great place to work, a safe and convenient city, a healthy city, and a city where people care for each other.
In particular, the county plans to actively promote a total of 17 new projects for the women-friendly city initiative in 2025, including: a policy idea contest for women-friendly city initiatives, an awareness improvement project to eradicate discriminatory practices, the operation of Himssen Chungnam ‘365x24 Daycare Center’, and the operation of the Hongseong Family Harmony Center.
Lee Yongrok, Governor of Hongseong County, stated, “A women-friendly city cannot be achieved by government efforts alone; the knowledge and experience of experts, as well as participation and cooperation from the private sector, are essential,” and requested, “Please make efforts in each department to actively reflect the opinions of experts and the private sector to realize a gender-equal and family-happy Hongseong.”
Meanwhile, Hongseong County was first designated as a women-friendly city in 2014, and through continuous implementation of women-friendly policies, it has been selected as a women-friendly city for the third consecutive time, following 2019 and now again in 2024.
