Establishing a Protection Manual for Reinforced Earth Retaining Walls
in Response to Climate Change
Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC, President Shin Changho) announced that on the 3rd, it signed a business agreement with the Gyeongnam Headquarters of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) to implement tasks for responding to climate change.
With the frequency of reinforced earth retaining wall collapses increasing due to recent changes in the patterns of natural disasters and abnormal rainfall, the two organizations plan to strengthen cooperation on tasks such as establishing and disseminating a protection manual for reinforced earth retaining walls through this agreement.
They also plan to continue multifaceted cooperation in the future, such as jointly participating in the 2025 Active Administration Best Practices Competition and proposing to reflect the reinforced earth retaining wall protection manual in the national guidelines.
The Director of Power Management at the Gyeongnam Headquarters of Korea Electric Power Corporation said, "Through today's agreement, I promise to fulfill our duties and roles as a strategic partner of Busan Metropolitan Corporation," and added, "We will do our best to achieve our common goals."
The Head of Strategic Business at Busan Metropolitan Corporation stated, "Through the cooperation between the two organizations under this agreement, we will jointly establish and disseminate the 'Reinforced Earth Retaining Wall Protection Manual' to enhance facility safety and strengthen disaster prevention capabilities."
