The Only District Selected Among Five Autonomous Districts
High Marks in All Areas of Tuberculosis Prevention
Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju received the Gwangju Metropolitan Mayor's Commendation in the field of tuberculosis prevention and management for 2025. It is the only recipient among the five autonomous districts of Gwangju.

This evaluation was conducted in celebration of the 15th Tuberculosis Prevention Day. It was established to discover autonomous districts that have actively contributed to tuberculosis prevention and management, and to promote the revitalization of related projects.
The evaluation criteria consisted of four items: ▲ latent tuberculosis infection screening rate ▲ family contact treatment management rate ▲ new patient treatment success rate ▲ completion rate of contact tracing in group facilities. The district received high marks in all areas.
Park Byungkyu, the head of the district office, said, "We will expand customized services that reflect local characteristics and residents' health needs," and added, "We will do our best to enable residents to practice tuberculosis prevention on their own."
