With the early presidential election being held due to the impeachment of former President Yoon Seok-yeol, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon is reportedly considering whether to participate in the People Power Party's presidential primary, Seoul City spokesperson Shin Seon-jong said on the 7th.
At a regular briefing held at City Hall that day, spokesperson Shin responded to a question about Mayor Oh's potential presidential candidacy by saying, "Once the party's election commission schedule is announced, although I don't know if he will run, he is reviewing whether to participate in the primary based on that schedule." The People Power Party appointed former Emergency Committee Chairman Hwang Woo-yeo as the chairman of the election commission managing the presidential primary that day.
Meanwhile, immediately after the impeachment ruling, Mayor Oh commented on the peaceful conclusion of the pro- and anti-impeachment rallies, saying, "Thanks to thorough prior preparation, cooperation with related agencies, and the mature civic consciousness, the rallies on the day of the ruling ended calmly." Spokesperson Shin conveyed that Mayor Oh urged, "Please respond meticulously until the situation is fully resolved, prioritizing citizens' safety."
