Programs Satisfying Curiosity and Providing Cultural Experiences
A Complex Cultural Space Shaped by Citizens' Voices and Communication
The former residence of the Busan Mayor, now open to the public, is enjoying significant popularity. The annual visitor target was achieved six months ahead of schedule.
The Busan Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Hyungjun) announced on the 7th that 'Domohon', which was returned to the citizens after more than 40 years, welcomed its 200,000th visitor just six months after opening on September 24 last year, and held a special event on the 6th to commemorate the occasion.
After starting a countdown to the 200,000th visitor at Domohon, the lucky guest finally arrived. The 200,000th visitor received a specially made souvenir from Domohon and enjoyed a photo session with the city mascot 'Bugi'.
Domohon was established as a complex cultural space for citizens with an annual goal of 200,000 visitors last year and is now becoming a new cultural landmark in Busan.
The city organized the event to celebrate the early achievement of its goal and to express gratitude to the citizens.
With its beautiful architecture, gardens, and the 'Deullaknalak' space, Domohon has welcomed an average of about 1,300 citizens per day since its opening and has gained popularity through broadcasts, media, and social networks.
Under the concept of 'Walk, Stay, Remember,' Domohon is receiving positive feedback by offering a variety of programs and exhibitions that provide cultural experiences for citizens.
Various exhibitions such as guided tours of Domohon’s history, academic exhibitions, photo exhibitions, and media exhibitions are providing citizens with unique attractions.
In addition, high-quality educational programs such as 'Busan School', a series of lectures on the meaning of life, and 'Busan Story', where citizens can hear success stories from leaders in various fields in Busan, are offering new experiences to the public.
‘Sosopung Contents’ such as garden observation, movies, music, and magic shows for families and children also provide opportunities to enjoy nature and culture in the heart of the city.
The city of Busan plans to continue operating Domohon programs to satisfy citizens’ diverse curiosities and provide cultural experiences.
Currently, the 'Sosopung Festival' is being held at Domohon until April 27, featuring a spring flower festival garden program, cultural and artistic performances including jazz, classical music, and magic, meditation programs, and the Sosopung Garden Poetry Library. Program details and schedules can be found on the Domohon website.
Lee Joonseung, Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs of Busan, said, "We are very pleased that Domohon has become a representative complex cultural space in Busan where citizens continuously visit. We will strive to ensure that Domohon provides citizens with special experiences and inspiration, and contributes to enhancing Busan's cultural value."
