Contributing to Forest Fire Recovery and Creating a Greener City
Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) held a 'Integrity Tree Planting Event' with employees' families on April 4 to mark Arbor Day.
This event was held under the theme of 'integrity,' a core value for public officials. More than 90 employees and their families, including President Lee Byungjin, participated in programs such as △Integrity Tree Commemorative Planting △Integrity Family Forest Creation △Tour of the new Line 1 subway trains. They also shared mini pots symbolizing integrity, giving children an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of integrity.

In particular, remembering the recent wildfire damages across the country, families planted trees together, adding to the significance of the event. Through this event, the corporation expressed its commitment to not only planting trees but also to cultivating a clean environment with citizens and passing on a green future to future generations.
For the commemorative planting, the Osmanthus fragrans, known as 'Manrihyang,' was selected. With its evergreen leaves throughout the year, Osmanthus fragrans symbolizes the strong ethical awareness of public officials and emphasizes the corporation's spirit of integrity. It also reflects the hope that the spirit of integrity, like the Busan urban railway that runs about 100,000 li daily, will spread widely among citizens.
Families planted Osmanthus fragrans and red plum blossoms together, reaffirming their commitment to building an honest household, just like the flower language of the red plum blossom, which means 'pure heart.' Especially, trees planted with young children were adorned with tags containing 'Family Integrity Pledge' messages, further deepening the significance of practicing integrity. The corporation plans to continuously expand the 'Integrity Fragrance Forest' created through this event.
Lee Byungjin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, said, "As many forests have been lost due to recent wildfires, I expect this tree planting event to have been a particularly meaningful time. Looking back on 40 years of the corporation's achievements, we will continue to strengthen the value of integrity and environmental protection together with employees and their families, and further enhance citizens' trust."
