Kick-off Briefing Held for Sacheon Aerospace Convergence City Urban Development Project
Designation of Project District and Establishment of Development Plan Launched
Sacheon City in Gyeongnam has officially begun drawing up a blueprint for the creation of an Aerospace Convergence City, which will combine various functions such as the aerospace industry, education, and research.
On the 4th, the city held a kick-off briefing for the ‘Sacheon Aerospace Convergence City Urban Development Project District Designation and Development Plan Establishment Service’ at the city hall’s general situation room, presided over by Mayor Park Dongsik.
This kick-off briefing was organized to present practical solutions and a vision for the development strategies and direction of the convergence city, and to promote systematic, phased development of the city based on these foundations.
The commencement briefing session for the designation of the Sacheon Aerospace Complex City urban development project area and the establishment of the development plan is underway.
With the confirmation that the Aerospace Administration building will be located within the Sacheon District of the Gyeongnam National Aerospace Industrial Complex, the city will invest 6.59 billion KRW in service fees to lay the groundwork for the construction of the Aerospace Convergence City by 2026.
In particular, the city will present a direction for building a future-oriented, advanced convergence city that combines various functions such as residential, cultural, industrial, educational, and research and development, along with realizing the vision of ‘Sacheon, the Capital of Aerospace.’
On this day, participants discussed step-by-step directions for the creation of the convergence city, including setting up an aerospace cluster zone centered on the Aerospace Administration, establishing industrial, research, and support facilities to assist the core aerospace industry, and creating a complex living support district with business, support, and tourism facilities to improve residential conditions.
Meanwhile, Sacheon City has been making every effort for the swift enactment of the ‘Special Act on the Construction of the Aerospace Convergence City,’ which was submitted to the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee on August 21 last year, including Mayor Park Dongsik’s visit to the National Assembly.
Mayor Park Dongsik said, “With the opening of the Aerospace Administration, the control tower of the aerospace industry, I hope everyone will do their utmost in establishing development strategies and directions so that our city can emerge as a world-class aerospace convergence city.”
