Sejong Center to Host Harry Potter Film Concerts in May and October

Sejong Center for the Performing Arts will consecutively present the 'Harry Potter Film Concert' in May and October. Audiences can watch the entire Harry Potter film series while enjoying the film music performed live by an orchestra.

At the Sejong Center Grand Theater, from May 16 to 18, the sixth series of the Harry Potter Film Concert, 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in Concert,' will be held, followed by the seventh series, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I in Concert,' from October 24 to 26.

The Harry Potter Film Concert series was produced by Warner Bros. Discovery Global Theme Entertainment and CineConcerts, first introduced in 2016. Since the premiere of the first series, 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in Concert,' over 3 million people worldwide have attended. The Harry Potter Film Concert is expected to surpass 3,000 performances in 48 countries worldwide by this year.

In Korea, it was first introduced in 2019 and has become a flagship planned performance of the Sejong Center. Maestro Siheung Young, who conducted the previous five series, will also conduct this performance, collaborating with the Seongnam Philharmonic Orchestra.

The music for the sixth Harry Potter film series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, was composed by Nicholas Hooper, who was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2010 and also composed for the fifth series. The music for the seventh series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I, was composed by Alexandre Desplat, an Academy Award-winning composer who worked on films such as The Grand Budapest Hotel, The King's Speech, Philomena, and The Shape of Water.

Sejong Center will operate a pop-up store ahead of the Harry Potter Film Concert opening. Last year, utilizing the first-floor Sejong Lounge and basement space of Sejong Center, they operated a Harry Potter 'Photo Booth,' a 'Photo Zone' where visitors could try on costumes, and an MD merchandise shop. This year, the audience experience space will be further expanded at The Hyundai Seoul located in Yeouido. The pop-up store will be open from the 24th to the 30th in the Iconic Zone on the B2 floor of The Hyundai Seoul.

Sejong Center President An Hosang said, "About 500 citizens participated in the pre-event and experience zone held last year at the Sejong Lounge, experiencing moments beyond the emotions the performance provides. Young audiences who grew up with Harry Potter from childhood will develop interest in other classical performances through the experience of listening to familiar film music performed by an orchestra, and family audiences will be able to experience art permeating daily life beyond the performance through various events. We will continue to strive for this."

Tickets for the Harry Potter Film Concert can be reserved on the Sejong Center website and major online ticketing platforms. SUITE seats, which allow a special enjoyment of the performance from carefully selected seats, are exclusively sold at Sejong Center. Ticket prices range from 30,000 to 150,000 KRW.
