Yangcheon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) will operate the 37th Yangcheon Jangsu Cultural University, a customized specialized program for the elderly, starting from the 7th.


Yangcheon Jangsu Cultural University, planned for the first time nationwide by Yangcheon-gu, is a lifelong education project specialized for the elderly that has produced a total of 21,931 graduates over 21 years since its opening in 2004 until last year.

The 37th spring semester course is designed for seniors aged 60 or 65 and older, and will be held once a week for 10 weeks from the 7th of this month to June 24th at community centers throughout Mok-dong and Sinjeong 1 and 3-dong. An integrated completion ceremony including an exhibition and presentation of works will be held to provide a place for communication and harmony among graduates.


This semester will be operated under the vision of "The second spring of life, adding richness to life at Jangsu Cultural University," with distinctive courses tailored to each neighborhood reflecting local characteristics and the needs of the elderly.


Main programs include outdoor field study courses (famous site tours, field experiences), health and welfare courses for disease prevention and health promotion, digital competency enhancement education courses, visiting life safety education courses, art courses (singing classes, art classes, etc.), and laughter therapy courses.


In addition, in cooperation with related organizations, strong support will be provided for seniors' health management and preparation for old age. The Yangcheon-gu Public Health Center conducts cardiovascular and cerebrovascular prevention management and dietary education through "Senior Health and Longevity Health Promotion," and the National Pension Service Seoul Southern Regional Headquarters operates the "Happiness + Retirement Preparation Course," providing customized educational services on finance, leisure, health, interpersonal relationships, and more.


Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, "I hope that through Yangcheon Jangsu Cultural University, seniors will greet the second spring of their lives with new challenges and passion in a lively way."
