The People Power Party on the 5th urged that "parliamentary democracy must be restored through tolerance, restraint, dialogue, and compromise," stating that the Constitutional Court, which dismissed former President Yoon Seok-yeol, also criticized the Democratic Party of Korea's unilateral operation of the National Assembly.
Spokesperson Jeong Gwang-jae said in a commentary on the same day, "The Constitutional Court held former President Yoon strictly accountable while also offering candid advice on the political sphere, especially the operation of the National Assembly."
Spokesperson Jeong emphasized, "Now, the people are also holding the ruling party, which has focused solely on 'Lee Jae-myung's shield' and 'early resignation of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration' using majority rule as a weapon, accountable," adding, "The Democratic Party, which is heading down the path of parliamentary dictatorship based on an absolute majority of seats, must respond."
He said, "Only by restoring parliamentary democracy can the Republic of Korea move toward a better future," and added, "The People Power Party will do its best for political restoration."
He further stated, "We will fulfill the constitutional duties entrusted to our party to resolve the chaos caused by the state of emergency and impeachment crisis and to ensure that the constitutional order operates without disruption."
