On the same day, the Korean Central News Agency reported, "On April 4, the Constitutional Court in puppet South Korea ruled to impeach Yoon Seok-yeol," adding, "According to the unanimous decision adopted by all eight justices, Yoon Seok-yeol was immediately dismissed from the presidency."
It also cited some foreign media reports that urgently covered the news of the former president's dismissal. This content was also published in the Rodong Sinmun, which North Korean residents can access.
In the past, when former President Park Geun-hye was dismissed in March 2017, North Korea reported the news swiftly within about 2 hours and 20 minutes, but this time the news was conveyed a day later.
Yang Moo-jin, president of the University of North Korean Studies, analyzed, "It appears that after designating the two countries as hostile, North Korea continues a strategy of non-interference in internal affairs, ignoring, and indifference," adding that in the upcoming presidential election phase, "the current stance of ignoring, indifference, and deliberate moderation toward South Korea will be maintained," and "it seems that the focus is more on managing messages toward the United States than toward South Korea."
Im Eul-chul, a professor at the Institute of Far Eastern Studies at Gyeongnam National University, said regarding the one-day delay in North Korea's related report, "This reaction is an extension of the strategy of ignoring South Korea based on the hostile bilateral relations," but also noted, "Of course, the North Korean leadership is expected to internally analyze and evaluate the various impacts of the dismissal of President Yoon Seok-yeol and seek future response directions."
