[Yoon Seok-yeol Impeachment] Choo Mi-ae "Happy but Sad... Crimes Must Be Fully Revealed"

Former President Yoon Seok-yeol was dismissed in the final ruling of the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial on the 4th, and Rep. Chu Mi-ae of the Democratic Party of Korea stated, "I am happy but bitter."

Rep. Chu said on Facebook that day, "Since disciplining Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, I have continuously asserted his unconstitutional and illegal misconduct until today's Constitutional Court's acceptance of the impeachment."

Rep. Chu also referred to the conflict between herself, who was the Minister of Justice during the Moon Jae-in administration, and former President Yoon, who was then the Prosecutor General. She claimed, "His actions as Prosecutor General were preparations for a prosecutorial coup that deceived the people," and added, "The December 3rd insurrection was an attempt at permanent rule using the military."

She continued, "Now the entire nation knows the true nature of the Yoon Seok-yeol monster, but it is not at all satisfying," and added, "Only the path to restore the Republic of Korea through dismissal has been opened, and there is much work to be done."

Rep. Chu emphasized that the criminal acts committed by former President Yoon and former First Lady Kim Geon-hee must be fully exposed to ensure that such painful history never happens again.

She said, "If reforms are delayed, a second Yoon Seok-yeol could emerge at any time," and added, "Livelihood should never be used as an excuse to postpone reforms as in the past." She raised her voice, saying, "We have confirmed that neither justice for the people nor the recovery of their livelihood can be achieved without reform," and "We must never forget the people's wishes even for a moment."
