Emergency Measures Due to Increased Risk of Large-Scale Wildfires

Andong City in North Gyeongsang Province has issued an administrative order restricting activities to prevent wildfires, starting from the 3rd until further notice, due to the increased risk of large-scale wildfires caused by dry weather and strong winds.
Administrative Order Announcement on Restrictions of Activities to Prevent Forest Fires in Andong-si, Gyeongbuk.
According to this administrative order, all entry into forest areas and burning activities are prohibited throughout Andong City, including the burning of rice paddies and agricultural by-products. Violations will result in strict administrative actions in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
Currently, the nationwide wildfire crisis alert has been raised to the 'severe' level, and Andong City has taken strong measures by closing most hiking trails except for the main routes.
In particular, since most wildfire causes are attributed to the carelessness of nearby residents, accidental fires by visitors to ancestral graves, and smoking by hikers, the city plans to strengthen entry control and significantly expand patrols, especially in wildfire-prone areas.
An official from Andong City emphasized, "Entry into restricted forest areas requires prior permission, and unauthorized entry will result in a fine of up to 200,000 KRW under the Forest Protection Act. We ask for the active cooperation of all citizens."
