This is a statement released by the Korean Association of Law Professors on the 4th. There has been praise calling the Constitutional Court's decision document, which ruled to dismiss former President Yoon Seok-yeol, a 'masterpiece.' It clearly explains the process from martial law to impeachment.
The Korean Association of Law Professors stated, "It is commendable that the decision respected the sovereign people, who are the source of all power."
Professor Han In-seop of Seoul National University School of Law wrote on Facebook, "It pinpointed every detail and clause," and "I pay tribute to the hard work of the Constitutional Court justices." Not only Professor Han, but those who watched the live broadcast of the summary of the ruling read aloud by Acting Chief Justice Moon Hyung-bae shared the parts that moved them on social networking services (SNS).
Writer Yoo Si-min evaluated on the YouTube broadcast 'Maebul Show' that "the announcement was written in the language of ordinary people," calling it "a progressive aspect of the Constitutional Court."
Attorney Lim Jae-sung of the Lawyers for a Democratic Society posted on Facebook immediately after the Constitutional Court's decision, saying, "To encounter the word 'resistance' in a legal document in such a positive sentence," and selected three sentences from the summary of the ruling read by Acting Chief Justice Moon.
First, he cited: "On the other hand, the National Assembly was able to swiftly pass a resolution demanding the lifting of martial law thanks to the resistance of citizens and the passive performance of duties by the military and police, which does not affect the assessment of the seriousness of the respondent's violation of the law."
He also mentioned sentences such as, "Soldiers who have served the country with the mission of national security and territorial defense were made to confront ordinary citizens," and "It reproduced the history of abuse of emergency powers, shocking the people and causing confusion in all areas of society, economy, politics, and diplomacy."
Netizens also praised it as a masterpiece. On SNS and other platforms, it was evaluated as "a rare masterpiece emphasizing constitutional values" and "easy, concise, and understandable by any citizen."
Additionally, a user who posted on X (formerly Twitter) selected the part, "The respondent had the opportunity to persuade the people to lead the government in the parliamentary elections held about two years after taking office. Even if the result did not align with the respondent's intentions, attempts to exclude the will of the people who supported the opposition party should not have been made," as the "most impressive part."
