"Election Will Be an Important Opportunity for National Unity"

Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, Acting President, held a phone call with No Tae-ak, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, on the afternoon of the 4th to discuss measures for fair and transparent election management.
Acting President Han emphasized, "The most important key to restoring the people's trust amid recent political turmoil is fair and transparent election management," adding, "At this point, successfully conducting the presidential election is of utmost importance."
In response, Chairman No of the Election Commission said, "We will carry out fair election management without any setbacks," and added, "We are currently cooperating well with the government side as needed, and will continue to actively consult moving forward."
Acting President Han stated, "This election will be an important opportunity not only to elect a new president but also for the future of the Republic of Korea and national unity," and said, "The government will actively cooperate and thoroughly inspect and manage the election so that all citizens can trust it."
After the call, Acting President Han notified the Central Election Commission of the presidential vacancy. It is known that at the regular Cabinet meeting scheduled for the 8th, an agenda item to designate the date of the next presidential election is likely to be submitted.
