[Yoon Seok-yeol Impeachment] Jeong Cheong-rae: "Prosecutors, Lay Down Your Burden... Let's Build the Lee Jae-myung Government"

"The Democratic Party's Role as a Governing Party Is Crucial"

On the 4th, Jeong Cheong-rae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, posted a photo taken with Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party, on his Facebook, stating, "I will put down the heavy burden of being a National Assembly impeachment commissioner and do my best to establish the Lee Jae-myung Democratic government."

In a post on his Facebook that day, Jeong said, "I came to the National Assembly by police car immediately after the Constitutional Court's wise dismissal ruling," adding, "Lee Jae-myung, the party leader, also said he watched it live on TV. I stopped by the party leader's office and officially reported to the party leadership."

He continued, "Now, a historic task to build a new Republic of Korea according to the law lies ahead of us," and added, "The historical responsibility of the Democratic Party as a ruling party is very important."

He said, "I offer my deep condolences and thanks to the people who have worried and suffered," emphasizing, "It is thanks to the people that the rebellion was prevented and former President Yoon was impeached. For a new Republic of Korea and a new Lee Jae-myung Democratic government, we start again now."

Jeong, the chairman of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee, served as the National Assembly's impeachment commissioner during this impeachment trial process. Earlier, in another Facebook post, Jeong said, "With perfect logic, former President Yoon was perfectly dismissed," and "I deeply thank the Constitutional Court for its wise and historic ruling that defeated the enemy of the constitution with the constitution."

He emphasized, "The constitutional conditions and procedures for martial law were violated, the martial law proclamation itself was violated, the constitutional institutions such as the National Assembly and the Central Election Commission were invaded, and attempts to arrest and detain members of the National Assembly and judges were all constitutional violations. The Constitutional Court made this clear in its ruling."
